Computer training in Dublin for all experience levelsWorking closely with Dublin homes and businesses strongly suggests that computer training achieves more permanent results when conducted one-on-one rather than in a class environment. Household computer users and small businesspeople attend workshop classes from which they come away with little practical knowledge. Classes organised for businesses in training centres are often seen as employee getaways and fail to reach all but the independently motivated. Through Computers of South Dublin you can schedule training time as you need it, conducted in your Dublin home or office. For absolute beginners, a standard orientation programme is recommended. In all other cases, when scheduling your first appointment you will be encouraged to describe:
Many COSD training clients have found it helpful to accumulate a list of items in 2. and 3. above in advance of each session. This list provides a study outline for the initial session(s) and its application quickly closes any gaps in one's computer competency. If one is unsure where to start, general course outlines exist for the following skill sets: Computer basics — intended for new computer users, or those whose learning has been haphazard. Topics include: parts of the computer, parts of the screen (tasks, icons, and Start menu), arranging windows, Internet browsing, reading and sending mail, files and folders, email attachments, printing and scanning, and other topics of your choice. Office applications — separate series for word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), presentations (MS PowerPoint), databases (MS Access), and office communications (MS Outlook). Each COSD syllabus has been digested from ECDL module outlines and the Microsoft in Education training programmes. Web design — either for creating a new site or modifying an existing site. Sessions consist of hands-on exercises to add and modify all features of commercial web sites, stopping short of graphic design. In the case of new sites, at the conclusion of sessions the result will be a simple yet fully functional, Internet-ready web site. |
